This is so far, just the second Brother sewing machine that I will be taking a closer look at. That being said, I am more familiar with Singers and Jukis. So I am still excited to find out more not just about the Brother DZ2400 but Brother sewing machines in general. Let’s go ahead and find out where the DZ2400 stands among the rest of the wide world of sewing machines in the Brother DZ2400 Review.

Designio™ Series Special: A Brother DZ2400 Review

Specification and Features

Inspecting this machine’s specifications, I thought to myself, “Ok, Brother managed to amuse me”. This is because I was surprised at how light it is when just on my last article (Brother PC420PRW Review), I specifically stated that it was heavier than most sewing machines (from other brands) it’s size. The actual unit is only 9.9 lbs. The item dimension is 11.48″ x 6.69″ x 16.02″, not really that small but again due to its lightweight, it is really portable. Power requirement is 110V.

Like what I did the last time, I am going to categorize the features into the 4 things that most sewists are looking for in a sewing machine.

Creativity

The Brother DZ2400 has 185 Built-in Stitches including 8 buttonhole designs and 55 lettering/ alphabet font and quilting stitches.
Both the stitch length and width can be adjusted. Maximum stitch width is 7mm while maximum length is 5mm.
Drop feed functionality that allows for free-motion sewing to really bring out one’s spontaneous creativity.

Efficiency
850 stitch per minute maximum capacity
Quick-Set bobbin feature and the built-in threader are really a time saver. Not to mention the snap-on presser feet that allows you to replace in a snap.

Convenience
Includes a wide extension table for large quilting projects.
Start/ stop and needle up/ down button for added convenience.
Soft touch stitch selector
Simple and easy bobbin winding system

Accuracy
Sewing speed can be adjusted
Variable needle positions
Well-lit sewing area
LED display to show you your current stitch settings

Value for Money

The Brother DZ2400 is a fair value for your money. Features are not as many as others but are more than sufficient for a lot of projects. It has a powerful motor and feed dog that is really suitable for quilting function. On top of these, it comes with a lot of accessories that can really cost you if you’ll have to buy them separately.
