This model is another specialized embroidery machine from the expansive line of Janome Computerized sewing machines. Please read on and learn more from our Janome 400E review.

So the Janome Memory Craft 400E Embroidery machine is obviously the 200E’s brother, so to speak. Only, this one is more sophisticated in so many ways. That being said, you shouldn’t be surprised that this model costs several hundred dollars compared to other embroideries only machines. Is it worth the price difference? I’d say it depends on how much you need (or want) the extra features it possesses that the others do not.

To start off, it features a maximum embroidery design size of 7.9″ x 7.9″ (but is also compatible with smaller Janome embroidery hoops) as opposed to the 200E model which can only embroider up to 5″ x 5″ design. It can go as fast as 860 embroidery stitch per minute and has 160 built-in embroidery designs. It is capable of on-screen design editing, you can enlarge, reduce, rotate, flip, copy and paste, as well as grouping function, add corner layouts, change to single color and even zoom. All these design maneuvers right then and there on the machine’s touchscreen control panel. Theres no need to go to a computer for the above mentioned functions. It is also capable of importing your own design via USB.

What it has some other doesn’t is programmable jump thread trimming, its capability to direct jump thread trimming, jump to a desired stitch point and automatically return to thread break post. It also has an automatic thread cutter so you can let go of your scissors for a while. It has a bobbin thread sensor so you’ll know right away if you need a refill.
